IZON IS3100 utilizes SATA II Technology and Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 which includes iSCSI target support among many other new and enhanced features.
The IZON iSCSI IS3100 is the core of an iSCSI SAN solution by providing access to external storage systems over Ethernet networks using an iSCSI initiator or HBA. Additionally, being a iSCSI target, the IZON iSCSI IS3100 can now provide additional storage for application servers, such as Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft® SQL Server™, or other database programs.
Remote Administration Enhancements Administrators can remotely administer the IZON iSCSI IS3100 by connecting a client computer browser to http://izonservername/admin. The server detects the client OS and launches the ActiveX® RDP client for Windows computers, or Java RDP support for non-Windows computers. The same server management capabilities are supported with either connection method.
Support for Volumes Greater Than 2 Terabytes The IZON iSCSI IS3100 supports 2 Terabytes and greater volumes in clusters, providing greater capacity for critical applications like Exchange Server, SQL Server, and other database applications that access data at the block level.
New Out-of-Box Experience The IZON iSCSI IS3100 provides administrators with straightforward, easy-to-use tools for the initial configuration and setup of their storage environment. The new “Out-of-Box Experience” incorporates a single configuration utility that starts automatically at logon, guiding administrators through the initial setup. And for common configuration tasks, administrators will have access to all the appropriate tools through the "Initial Configuration Tasks" interface.
IZON’s iSCSI Storage Solutionz offers users the exceptional scalability, availability and performance benefits of an enterprise-class SAN, while leveraging standard Ethernet networking instead of Fibre Channel. Our iSCSI line of Solutionz allows you to leverage proven, open-architecture designs to achieve maximum density while at the same time lowering your overall total cost of ownership.
Simply stated, IZON’s Solutionz deliver an exceptionally cost-effective alternative to Fibre Channel while taking advantage of industry-proven technologies such as Ethernet and TCP/IP. Perfectly suited to address a wide variety of applications, IZON’s iSCSI Storage Solutionz provide flexible, scalable block storage that will allow your data center administers to create everything from storage expansion from a single application server to large-scale IP-based SANs.

The Benefits of iSCSI
As the need for storage dramatically increases for businesses (more than 30-35% projected annually), the need for consolidation and centralization of storage assets also increases. Allowing a seamless connection between servers and consolidated storage systems, iSCSI protcol does not rely on an exclusive skill set required for operation and management of complex fabrics, allowing it to benefit from the economies of ascale that Ethernet and IP provide. Hence it has become the most affordable technology in acquisition and operation of SANs. Being a block level IO protocol, iSCSI also allows applications such as databases that require block level access to use networked storage systems.
IZON Technologies SAS, SATA, iSCSI and NAS Server storage solutions are the next generation of storage today. By leveraging these technologies in our NVR's, DVR's and Storage Solutions IZON is able to bring the very best solution at the most reasonable cost. By implementing these architectures into our solutions it streamlines our manufacturing process, it gives the customer a more robust, flexible and plenty of configuration options.
Every video security solution needs a high performance and flexible video storage. When video storage needs grow larger, making choices on the type of storage is implemented has a substantial impact on the bottom line. In enterprise video surveillance and digital recording environments where cost, performance, benefits and architecture are key considerations, transitioning from parallel SCSI or ATA to SAS and SATA provides the user unprecedented choices in storage solutions.
A way to keep costs lower and maintain flexibility is to transition to SATA or SAS. Most of our competitors NVR and DVR solutions are not very flexible with respect to the type of storage they deploy. The DVR and NVR manufacturers who can only utilize direct-attached storage (DAS) usually have to choose between a low-cost storage interconnect like parallel ATA, or a mainstream interconnect like parallel U320 SCSI. IZON Technologies has recognized the benefit of SAS and SATA over its predecessor Ultra320 SCSI and has embraced SAS and SATA technology as the future of our NVR, DVR and High Performance storage solutions.
